Why Past Papers Matter in Board Exams
Past papers are the closest thing to the real board exam. Every board sets its papers from a fixed syllabus, and the examiners test the same core concepts year after year - so questions on important topics keep coming back in new wording. Solving previous years' papers tells you three things that a textbook cannot: the actual paper pattern (how many short questions, long questions and MCQs come from each chapter), the topics your board repeats most, and how much you can write inside the exam time.
This page collects the past papers of the nine Punjab boards (BISE Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal) and the Federal Board (FBISE) for 9th class, 10th class, 1st year and 2nd year, subject by subject. Note: Past papers of one board help the students of other boards too, because the syllabus of the Punjab boards is almost the same - but for the exact paper pattern, always practise the papers of your own board.
Matric Past Papers - Subjects (9th & 10th Class)
For the Science group, past papers are available for these subjects:

- Islamiat
- Pakistan Studies

- Biology or Computer Science
Arts and general group students take the same compulsory subjects with their elective subjects (for example General Science, General Mathematics and their chosen electives) - check your board's date sheet for your exact subject combination.

Intermediate Past Papers - Subjects (1st Year & 2nd Year)
Compulsory subjects for intermediate are English, Urdu, Islamiat (in Part 1) and Pakistan Studies (in Part 2). The elective subjects depend on your group:

How to Use Past Papers - Step by Step
- Pick one subject and one previous year of your own board first.
- Sit with a clock and attempt the complete paper in exam time, without opening the book.
- Check your answers from the textbook and note every topic where you lost marks.
- Mark the questions and chapters that repeat across different years - these are your board's favourite topics.
- Revise the weak chapters, then attempt the next year's paper of the same subject.
- In the last weeks before the exam, do full-paper practice only - one paper a day, in the same hours as your real exam.

- Open your board's official website from the table above.
- Look for the Downloads, Model Papers or Past Papers section - boards officially publish model papers and pairing schemes there, free of cost.
- Select your class (9th, 10th, 1st year or 2nd year), the subject and the year, and download the PDF.
- You can also search established education portals such as ilmkidunya and Taleem360, which collect board past papers class-wise - always cross-check the class, subject and year printed on the paper.
Be careful: Never pay an unknown seller or social media page for past papers, and do not install apps or files from unknown links - genuine board papers and model papers are free on the official websites.

Do questions repeat in board exams?
There is no guarantee that the exact same question will come again. However, boards examine the same syllabus and core concepts every year, so similar questions and important topics keep appearing in different wording. That is why solving past papers shows you the paper pattern and the chapters that carry more weight.
How many years of past papers should I solve?
Solve as many previous years as you can find for your own board, starting with the most recent years and going backwards. Practising one paper properly - in exam time, without notes, and then checking your answers - is worth more than just reading many papers.

Past papers are easily available for the major compulsory and science subjects. For some elective and arts subjects, availability differs from board to board and year to year, so check your board's website and more than one education portal.
